Brian is currently a Senior Researcher at the Pew Research Center. He has been at the Pew Research Center since 2015.
Survey and methodological expertise
Brian is an expert in survey research and methodological topics, including developing special samples and questionnaire and scale development. He led the design and collection of a sample of AI experts. He also developed survey questions and scales to measure science knowledge and awareness of artificial intelligence in daily activities. Brian has experience training staff and teaching statistics and research methods at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Public opinion on climate, energy and environmental issues
He regularly leads the development of survey questionnaires and authored or co-authored more than 30 Center publications on public opinion on public opinion on climate, energy and environmental issues. He regularly discusses this research with the media and presents to policy and stakeholder audiences. Brian’s PhD dissertation analyzed cross-national public opinion on climate change.
Public trust in science
Brian has closely tracked public trust in scientists and views of science before, during and after the COVID-19 pandemic and authored multiple reports and publications on trust in scientists. He also regularly presents this research to a variety of audiences.
